6-now extrude one more time and then use scale to shrink the face a bit inside to make the gap, like in the picture indicating below.

7-then extrude it 2 more times upward for the height, for the top use extrude then shrink it in with scale which you did above, then do one more extrude and scale it in like the image below.

8-right click from pop up menus choose vertex as below.

9-now select the mid vertices like the one indicating below.

10-then in the top or side view move the selected vertices forward like the image below.
