The word came back from Lucasfilm that they really wanted to see “action”.
While I needed to go back to the drawing board for Battle Surgeons, I did end up using most of the work leading up to this point on the second book in the follow-up volume in the Medstar Duology “Healer”. This image was the result of making a mental connection between the initial concept of this first image and Michaelangelo ’s Pieta sculpture at the Vatican in Rome. I liked the metaphorical implications between the two figures and the power of the iconic tableau.
