HDRI tutorial

“HDRI tutorial ” by Joshua Murphy
In this tutorial I will show you how to make your very own HDRI from start to finish, without the use of a camera. A HDRI image in the simulation of light in its natural state. HDRI stands for High Dynamic Range Image. Some beginners find it hard to simulate the HDRI effect, but with this tutorial, hopefully I will be able to show just how easy it is. I use this effect mainly with the vehicle environment, but this effect could be used with anything that you wish to simulate the effect of the object having a real-life reflection. To do this tutorial you will need a novice to intermediate understanding of Photoshop. This tutorial will take 10-20 minutes. To begin, you will need your choice of 3D programs and Photoshop CS2. I will use 3DS Max 9 for this tutorial. Here is the effect it will give to your object.

What we will be doing in the next few steps is making illumination levels. To start, find an image that you would like to use as the reflection. Since I want to render my vehicle in a parking garage setting, I have found a picture of a parking garage.
