“Lamborghini Gallardo” by Simon Nuttall
The disk texturesthe disk textures are created in photoshop, a very high resolution bump map is the key to getting the subtle effects of the appearance of the disk surface having a slightly brushed look caused by the disks and pads wearing together, this is placed in the bump slot and has a very low value. A mask is used to control the intensity of the reflection to give the disk more detail, the white being fully reflective and the dark grey giving only a slight reflective value.
Lighting the light set up for this scene is very simple, and consists of only 2 lights the main light is a target spotlight that acts as the sun in the back ground image. It is set to a relatively low value and the rest of the light comes from the global illumination. There is also an omni light in the cockpit of the car, this is set only to illuminate the interior, this allows interior detail to be brought into the image without having to affect the the overall scene lighting this again is set to a very low value an is adjusted until the interior becomes more defined but not too illuminated it is something that takes a bit of time to set correctly but worth while for the extra detail.
CompositionThe back ground image is the same image use in the environment and is mapped onto a rectangle, it is important to note and not very clear from the screen shot that the background rectangle goes quite away under the floor, the reason for this is to ensure that the back ground image is visible through the transparent area of the floor. (When the scene is rendered the dark area is solid and the light fades to being totally transparent)

I love how realistic your Gallardo looks. I was wondering if you could take a screen shot of your car paint you used to make it so realistic. If you could post it on http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cambrera-Racing/143353462359880 that would be the best!
