Toplogy

“Topology” by Gavin WatsonFirstly we will decide which resolution we want to preview at this can be done adjusting the slider “presubdiv’ in your edit topology sub palette
Then click the projection button on and press “a” to see you new topology with projected detail. And this is how it looks

Continue to block out your model till you happy enough

Then you can convert it to a separate mesh by using adaptive skin menu.

Adjust the density slider to increase or decrease the number of polys
Then press a to preview
Lastly press “make adaptive skin” button, and there you have the same model with good topology!

Having good topology in your meshes is critical in the world of animation
And doing it this way allows you to fix and prepare your models for mapping and rigging

Hope you enjoyed this simple but important lesson

Cheers!
