Toplogy

“Topology” by Gavin WatsonHere are some of the ways the work.

1. Left click creates a point and joins point
2. To start at a point left click on ‘a’ empty canvas then left new start point
3. Holding down alt and left click in a point to delete it
4. To delete a edge create a point in the middle of the edge and delete that same point
5. Holding down control and clicking a point will redefine it as a new start point.

You can also do this in symmetry by pressing x for the x axis, try to follow the contours of your model, you can use the move function to place a point after it has been created.
As you are blocking you character try to get your edges as close as possible to your contour lines, this will help the model have more natural deformations when animating.
Remember that you can always tweak the topology by use the move function

To check the new topology press “a” and this will give you an exact representation of how your new topology will look.

And now for the last palette “projection”
What this great tool does is it projects the detail of our old topology on to our new topology
