Making of Qiane

“Making of Qiane ” by Shreya Shetty
Blending Modes : Blending modes work on layers and brushes. They dictate how the paint that is applied interacts with the paint that is already present. Certain modes affect the hue, certain modes affect the saturation and other affect the value. Most modes work in combinations of these three. It’s helpful to learn how these work so you can use it as an advantage while painting.
Things to avoid while painting digitally:
Don’t use the dodge and burn tool. It’s easy to spot where they have been used and they only succeed in making your painting look ‘dead’ Instead, experiment with different blending modes to get the result you desire.
Don’t use the soft brush, it will make your painting look very lifeless and plastic. Try out different brushes!
Don’t colourpick from your reference if you are serious about painting. Train your eye to select the Hue/Saturation/Value correctly.
Don’t trace from your image. It will not help in the long run, or if you want to draw from imagination.
